We called this wedding our “Wedding on Fire,” because both the bride and groom met working for Word on Fire ministries in Chicago! From the very beginning, we were in love with the vision for this wedding (not to mention their jaw-dropping historic church)! Jacqueline and Nick wanted a smooth, classic, and Christ focused wedding day.
The nuptial mass was at St. John Cantius, one of Chicago’s many historic parishes. This incredible church, founded by Polish immigrants at the end of the 19th century, stands as a testament to what is true, good, and beautiful. The moment you enter into the vestibule, the hospitable and reverent spirit of the Canons Regular can be felt. This is not the first wedding we’ve had with priests in this particular religious order, but our first at this church, so we knew it would be something special….and it was! The music was incredible and full of the the rich liturgical heritage ones comes to expect with a more traditional Catholic parish. The majestic design and sacred art adds to the atmosphere of prayer and worship. What a joy it was to be here at this lovely church and be part of such a beautiful celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage.
Their reception at Galleria Marchetti was lovely. The main reception space is surrounded on three sides by glass walls for a conservatory atmosphere enhanced by a greenery wall. The cocktail space was reminiscent of Tuscany with lots of pale stone. The venue had recently added a neutral baby grand piano to the cocktail space, which we were able to use for escort cards! The couple chose white linens and classic white roses for their tables. They also opted for an audio guestbook in the form of a vintage phone, and custom cocktail napkins!
The night came to a close with flaming donuts, which was a first for us! It is exactly what it sounds like; flame cooked donuts with tons of mouthwatering toppings. Jacqueline and Nick left the celebration during an informal exit, surrounded by their family and friends. This classic Chicago wedding will be remembered by our company as one of our easiest to date, and it was a great privilege to experience this sacrament in such a stunning church with such a sweet, joyful couple!
