Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Wildflowers Retreat- a retreat for women in the Catholic wedding sphere to connect and recharge together. The 2026 retreat was in the Cincinnati/Covington area, and as I was on the way out of the city with my wonderful friend Colette of Colette Lucille Photography, we drove by a truly beautiful set of church spires. Our eyes caught on the German inscription above the doors and we realized that we had stumbled on Mother of God Catholic Church in Covington!

The church seemed all quiet and locked on a Sunday afternoon long after Masses had ended, but we actually stumbled across a parishioner who was able to let us into the church and even gave us a brief tour! The church is a stunning 1800’s church with architecture in the renniassance style. Our guide even showed us a dent in the tile of the sanctuary where the massive dome once caught fire from the glare of the sun through the old style windows and came crashing down to floor below. Though our visit was brief and unplanned, we were so thrilled for a chance to visit this stunning church. Can’t you just picture an opulent Catholic wedding here? We definitely can and hopefully we’ll be back someday to make it a reality.
